A community march against Islamophobia organized by Refugees Welcome Ottawa was held on Dec. 13 2015 at 1 PM. The march began at Dundonald Park and proceeded west along Somerset Street before looping back to the park via Gladstone Avenue.
Over 100 people participated, including Ottawa-Centre MPP Yasir Naqvi, holding signs with messages that welcomed refugees and denounced Islamophobia.
The first wave of Syrian refugees landed Thursday, Dec. 10 in Toronto and were greeted by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
